Meet the person behind Open the Gathering
A small indie project built with curiosity, data, and a lot of Magic: The Gathering cardboard.

Hi, I'm Fernando, a developer and casual MTG fan from Barcelona. I built Open the Gathering as a place to track booster openings, archive interesting pulls, and visualize how the numbers move over time.
This project combines things I genuinely enjoy: web development, data, collecting, and the strange question every Magic player asks at some point: is this booster box actually worth it?
The site keeps growing as I improve the codebase and keep opening more products, so the creator page is also a reminder that this is an active work in progress.
Why I built this
I wanted something more useful than a pile of opened packs: a searchable MTG archive with daily logs, estimated card value, and long-term analytics.
What it means for me
This project is part portfolio, part learning lab, and part collector diary. If it also becomes useful for other MTG fans, that is a strong bonus.
Tech and learning
The stack centers on TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with the site evolving as I learn more about data modeling, metadata, analytics, and maintainable frontend code.
What's next
More sets, better analytics, cleaner tracking, and stronger tools for collectors. For now, it is one booster, one feature, and one commit at a time.
